About the authors
Dr. Mark Dowley
Dr. Mark Dowley is Associate Head – Staff Development at the Crowther Centre for Applied Educational Research, Senior Fellow at the Centre for Coaching, Mentoring and Professional Learning and Director of Programs for the Foundation for Positive Masculinity. For over 15 years, Mark has taught and presented in schools from Papua New Guinea to New York and has received multiple teaching awards. He is the Chairman of Mastery Schools Victoria and consults internationally to schools on culture, belonging and behaviour. Mark completed his Doctor of Education and Masters in Education Policy (International) at the University of Melbourne. Currently, he leads the Staff Development program at Brighton Grammar School and teaches year 8 mathematics.
Ollie Lovell
Ollie completed undergraduate degrees in Physics and Economics from the University of Tasmania, and Masters of Teaching at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education. At present, Ollie is also:
· Director of Steplab Australia, working to support schools with the growth and development of their teachers and students through Instructional Coaching.
· Completing a PhD in self-regulated learning with Alexander Renkl and John Dunlosky. See me speak about self-regulated learning here
· Working as a maths teacher and instructional coach at Brighton Grammar School (check out their work on positive masculinity in particular), Senior Researcher within the Crowther Centre, and Adjunct Lecturer at LaTrobe University.
Outside of the education sphere I am also a Quaker and an Effective Altruist.
